Urban League Teams up with Local Citizen, Lancaster Moravian Church and Eastern Insurance Holdings to Deliver Tools for School

August 28, 2009 was a great day for many local children as they received new backpacks filled with school supplies at the Urban League of Lancaster County. The backpacks and school materials were provided by the Tools for School Program run by Gina Dague of Lancaster. Ms. Dague, who operates the program from her family home, is an employee of Eastern Insurance Holdings and a member of the Lancaster Moravian Church. She received assistance from co-workers and church members, among others, who donated backpacks, supplies and money in support of the program.

55 eager students received gender and grade specific backpacks, loaded with all the supplies they will need, in preparation for the start of the school year on September 3rd. The Backpacks were distributed at the Urban League’s community center located at 502 South Duke Street. Ms. Zeltha Ellis of the Urban League identified worthy students from her Youth Education Service & Support Program and coordinated the distribution along with Ms. Dague. Their efforts have resulted in equipping the student with the necessary tools to do their best in school.

The Urban League of Lancaster County is grateful for the support it receives from community minded partners like Gina Dague, The Lancaster Moravian Church and Eastern Insurance Holdings, Inc. as it pursues its mission of education and youth empowerment!
