About

For nearly half a century, the Urban League of Lancaster County has enriched the lives of African Americans and other minorities within Lancaster County.  Our mission, to secure economic self-reliance, enable parity and safeguard civil rights, is more relevant today than when we began 43 years ago.  We believe in promoting equal opportunity through employment and educational assistance, intervention and preventive initiatives. We provide resources and support in an effort to create a community in which African-Americans, the poor, the disadvantaged and other minorities can engage in life-long learning, become self-sufficient and develop to their full potential.

Today, we include technology involvement and training, workforce development, health services, and programs of leadership development -- an abstinence-based initiative, and services for pregnant and parenting teens.  We recognize that times have changed… and the Urban League has changed to meet new challenges.

This year, we turn a new chapter in the history of the Urban League of Lancaster County.  With new leadership and a renewed mission to build bridges, empower our clients and create a culture that embraces inclusion, we launch a new era of providing support for the Lancaster area.
